1,000-plus Covid cases for 4th day, positivity rate up to 6.42% in Delhi | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Delhi reported more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases for the fourth day in a row with 1,011 more people testing positive for the viral infection on Monday. The positivity rate rose to 6.42%, up from Sunday’s 4.48%.
Officials said the increased positivity rate could be due to low testing in the last 24 hours on account of the weekend. Only 15,742 tests were conducted on Sunday compared with Saturday’s 24,177 tests. The infection tally in the national capital now stands at 18,75,887 and the death toll at 26,170.

Covid cases in the city have risen sharply in the past couple of weeks. However, statistics show that only 1.2% of the designated hospital beds are occupied. The need of the moment, therefore, is to continue Covid-appropriate behaviour without panicking

Hospitalisations due to Covid-19 have gone up over the past few days. But, doctors say, these constitute a very small percentage of the actual number of infections being reported.
Delhi has designated 9,379 beds across the public and private hospitals for Covid patients. Of them, only 121 (1.29%) are occupied by patients confirmed positive for the infection as well as those awaiting test results.
