According to the officers of Gandhinagar police, Nisha Prajapati, who was last posted at the local crime branch (LIB) in the SP office, had left her house on April 16 morning and later she went incommunicado.
As she did not return till the late evening on April 16, her family members approached police and filed a missing complaint.
On Monday evening, the cops found a body stuck in the Jaspur siphon of Narmada canal in Gandhinagar and it was later identified as Prajapati.
DySP PD Manwar of Gandhinagar police said that Prajpati was a resident of Chandrala village of Dahegam taluka and was working as cop for around two years.
She was married to a resident of Halisa village in Dahegam named Brijesh Gurjar, who has been preparing for the competitive exam for the government job, in December 2020.
“On April 16, she went to meet her grandfather at her parents’ home and later went to her husband’s place. She had left her house in the morning, parked her scooter near the Narmada canal and jumped into it,” said Manwar.
He said that she had also dropped a paper in the scooter’s glove box in which she had written the password of her cellphone. “The cops have talked with Prajapati’s father Kirit, who has been staying in East Africa, who told us that there was no particular reason which could lead her to commit suicide,” said Manwar.
He said that the police also enquired at her work place but there was no such work pressure which forced her to commit suicide.
