KALYAN: While 25,000 people living in Malang Gad area near Kalyan are troubled by the scorching heat, now their problems have doubled due to the power cut started by the electricity department for the last few days.
Local people say that as soon they go to sleep at night, the electricity is cut for at least two hours, due to which they have to face a lot of trouble in the midst of summer.
Frustrated with power cuts, on Thursday local residents with ex-Shiv Sena corporator Mahesh Gaikwad met Dhananjay Aundhekar, chief engineer of Kalyan division demanding cancellation of load shedding in Malang Gad area otherwise they will hold agitation against MSEDCL.
Gaikwad alleged that for the last few days residents of Maland Gad area are daily witnessing load shedding between 10 pm to 1 am.
Locals said that the examinations of the students have started and due to power cut students are also facing lot of inconvenience.
Meanwhile, around 9,000 consumers at Ayre Nagar and Mahatre Nagar area in Dombivli faced power cut issue since Thursday morning.
An MSEDCL official said, “There is fault on 22 KV Ramnagar feeder emanating from Bajiprabhu sub station from 9.40 am due to 22KV double run cable fault. Work of cable jointing is in progress by two agencies and will be completed before 9 pm and supply will be restored”.
