WWE presented a two-night WrestleMania this year in Dallas, Texas and Steve Austin ended up appearing on both nights of the show.
The first night saw him appear on the KO Show, which set up a match with Kevin Owens, marking the first time that Austin had a wrestling match since WrestleMania 19 in 2003 when he retired from wrestling following a loss to The Rock.
Austin appeared again on night two of WrestleMania to hit Stunners to Austin Theory, Pat McAfee, and Vince McMahon. Austin was able to promote his ‘Broken Skull American Lager’ beer on both nights.
During an appearance on the Brewbound Podcast, Austin talked about his return to the ring. He said he feels 100% now and it’s an exciting time for him to be back in the business.
“I never thought I’d be back in a ring but, there we were headlining, main event for the — headlining WrestleMania for night one and it was just truly an honor to be out there and really excited to be out there to — just like the last few times I’ve been able to drink our beer, Broken Skull IPA out in the ring.”
Austin was asked if he will be at WrestleMania 39 in Inglewood, California next year. Austin said if someone told him he’d be headlining night one of WrestleMania 38, he’d think they were crazy so he can never say never. He did note that he didn’t book himself at WrestleMania 38, but rather it was a Vince McMahon decision.
“I would really imagine that within the scope of that show, that’s gonna be a big show in a big time city and it’ll be a two-night event again so, I’m not — I’m sure I’m done wrestling per se, but as a part of WWE, I can’t imagine I would not be there in some capacity and I’m not booking myself on the show because I didn’t book myself on 38. That’s a Vince [McMahon] thing and I have a great relationship with him and if I get the call, I’ll be there.”
WWE reportedly hopes to book The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 as long as The Rock can get free from his busy schedule. WWE and The Rock teased the match last week on episodes of WWE Evil and Young Rock.
