HYDERABAD: Suspecting his wife’s fidelity, a brick manufacturing unit worker allegedly killed his 11-month-old son by repeatedly slamming him on the floor after an argument with his wife under the influence of alcohol in Mancherial district on Sunday night. The shocking visuals of the assault were captured on CCTV at the brick unit and the accused is in police custody.
The accused is 25-year-old brick kiln worker from a village in Mandamarri mandal of Mancherial district. In 2020, the accused had married a 23-year-old woman and they have been working at a cement brick manufacturing unit at a village in Mandamarri mandal. The couple have a 11-month-old son.
According to police, the accused and the victim are addicted to alcohol. “The accused has been harassing his wife for several months suspecting her fidelity. He used to beat her and she often used to stay put at a co-worker’s house or relative’s house during the night time to avoid the physical torture,” Ramakrishnapur sub-inspector (SI) G Sudhakar said.
On Sunday night, the accused came home drunk and, by that time, his wife also consumed alcohol. In an inebriated condition, he picked up an argument with his wife and started beating her. The woman picked up her 11-month-old son and started walking out of the house to safeguard herself from the assault.
“On seeing his wife walk out of the house, the accused became furious. He stopped his wife and snatched the boy from her hands. He threw the boy on the cement bricks and after his wife picked up the infant, he started kicking her. The accused again snatched the boy from his wife and slammed him on the floor,” the SI said.
The shocking visuals were captured on the CCTV installed at the brick manufacturing unit and a woman tried to stop the accused from assaulting his wife but he pushed her aside. The woman, who fell aside, got up and walked away. “Two co-workers alerted us about the assault and they also helped the woman shift the boy to a government hospital in Mancherial where the boy was declared brought dead,” the SI said. Police took the accused into custody and a murder case was registered against him.
